Brooklyn 45 (2023) – REVIEW

October 6, 2025

Ted Geoghegan’s We Are Still Here is a great little family drama horror story. His Mohawk is an exciting period revenge story. I enjoyed both. When I first noticed Brooklyn 45 on Shudder, I didn’t even add it to my queue. I judged that idiomatic book by its cover. I thought that a séance ghost … More Brooklyn 45 (2023) – REVIEW

V/H/S/Halloween (2025) – REVIEW

October 4, 2025

I thought for sure that I’d reviewed one of the entries into the V/H/S franchise before. I guess not. Well, not really. I did a microreview last October that essentially boiled down to “didn’t love it”. I’ve seen all eight of the main anthologies and both of the spin-off films. The only real review I’ve … More V/H/S/Halloween (2025) – REVIEW

Dangerous Animals (2025) – REVIEW

October 3, 2025

Sean Byrne apparently makes one good movie every decade (give or take). The Loved Ones is a brutal gut punch of a backwoods psychos story. The Devil’s Candy is a brutal gut punch of a family possession thriller. And now we have Dangerous Animals. It’s my 5th movie of an intended 31 for the 2025 … More Dangerous Animals (2025) – REVIEW

Booger (2023) – REVIEW

October 1, 2025

Next up for the October 31 Movies-a-thon, is Booger. If you read my last post, you might remember that I scrolled through the offerings on a couple of streaming services looking for horror movies that I hadn’t heard of before that were directed by women. Now, that’s not super sustainable because I’ve heard of A … More Booger (2023) – REVIEW

Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

October 1, 2025

It’s October! It’s time to attempt to watch 31 new-to-me horror movies in a month. I’ve done it before and I can do it again! To kick things off, I decided to go light with a movie that HBO has tagged as a horror comedy. I really didn’t know anything about Your Monster going into … More Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

31+ October Micro-Reviews 2024

October 6, 2024

35 (Bonus!) Carver (2015) A Halloween set slasher directed by a kid who wasn’t old enough to drive at the time! This one is a pretty straightforward slasher that tried to do things a bit different in its final moments. It is impressive that a 13-14 year old kid made it. Worth checking out just … More 31+ October Micro-Reviews 2024

The Witch in the Window (2018) – Review

August 10, 2018

One last (late) full review from my coverage of Fantasia Int’l Film Festival 2018. It’s been a lot of fun to put my thoughts to the screen for you, dear reader. And I’m going out on a high note with The Witch in the Window, directed by half of the duo who directed YellowBrickRoad and … More The Witch in the Window (2018) – Review

Next up in my suite of reviews for the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival is the Canadian film, The Crescent. Let’s get into it, shall we? Sequence Break (2017) – REVIEW

July 28, 2017

I’m really cranking these Fantasia Int’l Film Fest reviews out! (by “cranking”, i mean that i’m way behind and scrambling to get movies watched and reviews written while also having a job and a family. what i’m saying is this: you’re welcome) Next up, Sequence Break! Let’s get into it, shall we?   Oz (Os?) … More Sequence Break (2017) – REVIEW

Wichita (2017) – REVIEW

July 9, 2017

Perhaps you know nothing about Wichita. I certainly didn’t. First-time co-directors, Justyn Ah Chong and Matthew Ward, aren’t on my radar and I’ll assume they’re not on yours unless you are personal friends / acquaintances of theirs (or you worked on this film). So, it stands to reason that their movie may have slipped by … More Wichita (2017) – REVIEW

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
