Writing about the After Dark Horrorfest got me thinking about The Abandoned. It was part of the After Dark Horror Fest first year lineup of films. In fact, it was the first ADHF movie I saw. It set the bar unrealistically high for the “8 Films to Die For” program (now the official title of … More The Abandoned (2006) – REVIEW
Hidden (aka Skjult) is part of the “After Dark Horrorfest” (i’m going to call this ADHF, if you don’t mind) line of films – long defunct but resurrected this year as “8 Films to Die For” (previously, the tagline for ADHF). Hidden was in the lineup in the fourth year of this noble effort. Why … More Hidden (2009) – REVIEW
Two things: 1. New post category! Who knows how far I can take it! Labor Day horror? MLK Day horror?! The world is my oyster! 2. I do know that everybody is doing a Christmas horror list/post. I’m doing this anyway because I can only take so many “Did you see that NPR article about … More SEASONAL – Christmas Horror
You might be thinking, “What’s this shit, Danger?” You’re wondering why I’d ramble about Return to Oz, a kids’ movie from 1985. A Disney movie no less! It may seem odd that I’m reviewing Rest Stop right now since it’s a decade old. Should it be in my “underappreciated” category? Maybe. And it was a loving tribute to our favorite holiday, Halloween. The most wonderful time of the year. A time when theaters are showing classic and … More REVIEW – Krampus (2015)
It has taken me way longer than I expected it would to write a review of the graphic novel, “Beautiful Darkness”. I haven’t been too busy, even though it IS holiday with family time. No. It’s that the book is so complex. I’ve read it and re-read it and I still worry that I won’t be … More BOOK – Beautiful Darkness by Fabien Vehlmann & Kerascoet
Saturday morning and my kid has a play date. What can I do with myself for a few hours? I could go see Victor Frankenstein. I saw the trailer and.. well, let’s see what else is out – drama I”m not in the mood for, comedy I’m not interested in, movies I’ve already seen, … More REVIEW – Victor Frankenstein (2015)
I’ve been debating whether these posts should be called “underappreciated” or “underrated”. I’m going to stick with underappreciated because it does a better job of conveying how I feel about the films personally. I appreciate them and I think more people should too. Underrated could be an inaccurate description of, say, a film … More UNDERAPPRECIATED – The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh (2012)
Remember when you would pick out a movie based on its cover art? No? Well, I feel sorry for you then. Because the excitement and gleeful anticipation that you feel from finding a VHS or DVD with a cool looking cover is awesome. And it typically lasts exactly as long as it takes to … More REVIEW – Let Us Prey (2014)
