Bystanders (2024) – REVIEW

October 2, 2025

(putting a SA trigger warning here just in case you need it) Number 3 of (hopefully) 31 for October of 2025 is Bystanders. Another movie that I knew nothing about. I found it in Tubi’s “Horror by Women” category. You’d think that category would be a wellspring, but it’s not. Several of the titles are … More Bystanders (2024) – REVIEW

Booger (2023) – REVIEW

October 1, 2025

Next up for the October 31 Movies-a-thon, is Booger. If you read my last post, you might remember that I scrolled through the offerings on a couple of streaming services looking for horror movies that I hadn’t heard of before that were directed by women. Now, that’s not super sustainable because I’ve heard of A … More Booger (2023) – REVIEW

Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

October 1, 2025

It’s October! It’s time to attempt to watch 31 new-to-me horror movies in a month. I’ve done it before and I can do it again! To kick things off, I decided to go light with a movie that HBO has tagged as a horror comedy. I really didn’t know anything about Your Monster going into … More Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

Death of a Unicorn (2025) – REVIEW

August 4, 2025

The trailer for Death of a Unicorn made the movie seem like it was going to be goofy, gory fun, but I couldn’t help but detect a note of corniness. That wasn’t a dealbreaker though. I’m ok with corny as long as the “gory fun” part wasn’t neglected. It also hinted at some social commentary … More Death of a Unicorn (2025) – REVIEW

35 (Bonus!) Carver (2015) A Halloween set slasher directed by a kid who wasn’t old enough to drive at the time! This one is a pretty straightforward slasher that tried to do things a bit different in its final moments. It is impressive that a 13-14 year old kid made it. Worth checking out just … More 31+ October Micro-Reviews 2024

In a Violent Nature (2024) – REVIEW

June 7, 2024

When I saw the trailer for In a Violent Nature, the opening shots of a hulking brute with decayed skin, reminded me immediately of Jason Voorhees. I thought it was going to be a new F13. It’s not. But… it is certainly inspired by and/or an homage to those films. Before you get too excited … More In a Violent Nature (2024) – REVIEW

Infinity Pool (2023) – REVIEW

March 26, 2024

At the time of writing this, Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool is on Hulu. If you – like me – find yourself endlessly scrolling through your queue and beyond looking for something that sounds right for your mood, maybe this will be the one that wins out some night. Is it right for your mood? Well, … More Infinity Pool (2023) – REVIEW

Stopmotion (2024) – REVIEW

March 26, 2024

I was kind of surprised to find that Stopmotion was playing major theater chains in Chicago. I’d seen the trailer and thought for sure the film would have either a very small run (maybe at Alamo or Music Box) or go straight to streaming. It’s certainly a niche film. I don’t see it gaining any … More Stopmotion (2024) – REVIEW

The Deep House (2021) – REVIEW

December 22, 2023

Ya know… I keep coming back to this site sporadically and it’s kinda nice. I mean, I have surely lost the few followers I had and I feel zero pressure. It’s like a “there when I need it” outlet for discussing my hobby – watching horror movies. (is that a hobby? seems like a pretty … More The Deep House (2021) – REVIEW

43 (Bonus!) Don’t Kill It (2016) I read that this film is fast-paced and that’s exactly what I was looking for tonight. Were the internet strangers right? Mostly! The movie starts off strong with a string of brutal kills and then bogs down a little bit with story, but it’s back to the bloody action … More 31+ October Micro-Reviews

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
