A bloodied woman stands in front of candles

Azrael (2024) – REVIEW

October 26, 2025

Samara Weaving is sort of a nepo baby. Her uncle Hugo was in a couple of huge franchises and I’m sure that helped her get her foot in Hollywood’s door. It helps that she is gorgeous in a conventionally attractive way. It also helps that she’s a pretty damn good actor. And she seems to … More Azrael (2024) – REVIEW

Demonic (2021) – REVIEW

October 2, 2025

When Demonic came out, I was very excited for it. I’m a fan of Blomkamp’s District 9 and his Oats Studios shorts. The trailer led me to believe that the film was going to be a mix of sci-fi and horror. That’s a cocktail that I appreciate quite a bit! It got some pretty poor … More Demonic (2021) – REVIEW

Ghost Stories (2018) – Review

April 20, 2018

As we all know, anthology horror can be an extremely mixed bag. A single anthology can feature an amazing, top-tier short right alongside a worthless turd. A couple come to mind, but I’m not here to shit on specific titles. (looks like i need to put the breaks on my scatological references too! 2 refs … More Ghost Stories (2018) – Review

Dark Waters (1993) – REVIEW

March 6, 2018

Some of you were probably wondering what happened to good ol’ Jason D. Well, wonder no more! I’m back. What’s that? You didn’t notice I was gone. And you don’t think I’m good? Well, shit. Either way, it’s been too long but I’m back with another timely review for 1993’s Dark Waters. And by ‘timely’, … More Dark Waters (1993) – REVIEW

The Void (2017) – REVIEW

May 26, 2017

Let me start this The Void review off with a highly politicized topic: global climate change. Yes, the nefarious “scientists” and “intelligent people” of the world used to call it global warming, but suddenly they want us to call it something different. Probably because they’re perpetrating some silver-tongued con game on the populace just to … More The Void (2017) – REVIEW

The Evil Within (2017) – REVIEW

May 22, 2017

At this point, who hasn’t heard of the craziness that got The Evil Within to horror fans’ screens? A meth-addled “old money” heir. A Hollywood mansion turned into a studio. A 12+ year post-production period. All to get Andrew Getty’s nightmare vision to the screen. A feat that he didn’t quite realize before he died. Luckily … More The Evil Within (2017) – REVIEW

The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2017) – REVIEW

April 7, 2017

It’s been nigh on 26 years (okay, 2 years. but i’m keeping the release year at 2017) since I first heard tell of a little film called February. It was getting some positive festival buzz, so I put it in my list of films to check out when I could. I was unable to attend … More The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2017) – REVIEW

The Wailing (2016) – REVIEW

July 19, 2016

Fantasia (International Film Fest) has been premiering (or North American premiering) great genre films for a while now. I’ve never made it to the fest but I’ve excitedly awaited attendees’ tweets/reviews when the time comes each year. This year, I have a blog. And this year, I was accepted to review films from the … More The Wailing (2016) – REVIEW

The Darkness (2016) – REVIEW

May 24, 2016

I knew NOTHING about The Darkness before it hit theaters. (strange how many of my reviews start like this considering how much time i spend reading about horror) When I was looking through the horror films on offer last week, I noticed it. (ok. i didn’t know NOTHING. i vaguely remember seeing a tweet or … More The Darkness (2016) – REVIEW

Ava’s Possessions (2016) – REVIEW

March 4, 2016

Possession movies aren’t necessarily my favorite types of movies. I admit that The Exorcist is a damn fine film that is shocking and terrifying at times, but I think it’s pacing is a bit slow for my tastes. (i repeat: it’s a damn fine movie. don’t run me out of town on a rail) … More Ava’s Possessions (2016) – REVIEW

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
