The Burning (1981) – VIDEO NASTIES REVIEW

March 7, 2016

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these “video nasties” posts. Now’s as good a time as any, I suppose. And what better film to cover than The Burning? I’ve seen The Burning several times both on the small screen and the big. That’s not gauche braggery, I’m just establishing that I’m familiar … More The Burning (1981) – VIDEO NASTIES REVIEW

Ava’s Possessions (2016) – REVIEW

March 4, 2016

Possession movies aren’t necessarily my favorite types of movies. I admit that The Exorcist is a damn fine film that is shocking and terrifying at times, but I think it’s pacing is a bit slow for my tastes. (i repeat: it’s a damn fine movie. don’t run me out of town on a rail) … More Ava’s Possessions (2016) – REVIEW

BOOK – NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

March 1, 2016

Joe Hill’s “NOS4A2” was on my ‘to read’ list for a long time, but I’m not sure why. I’d only read “Heart-Shaped Box” previously and it didn’t necessarily leave me breathlessly excited to read more by Hill. (thougth it was a decent story) I think it may have been because I subconsciously assumed that … More BOOK – NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

Digging Up the Marrow (2014) – REVIEW

February 26, 2016

When I saw the trailer for Digging Up the Marrow (a lot of my intros start like that, huh?), I thought it looked like an interesting story. Director Adam Green’s Hatchet was pretty good (though I didn’t stick with the franchise after Hatchet II) and Frozen looked decent and I’ve been meaning to check … More Digging Up the Marrow (2014) – REVIEW

The Witch (2015) – REVIEW

February 25, 2016

I liked the advertising for The Witch (i’m not going to write “The VVitch”, though i do think that bit of typographical flair is pretty awesome) quite a bit. The posters look rad. The trailer was rad. I was sold. But I didn’t get a chance to see it for a few days after … More The Witch (2015) – REVIEW

REVEIW – Harbinger Down (2015)

February 22, 2016

Remember when we were all super-stoked on those guys from the Stan Winston effects studio making a practical effects-heavy creature feature called Harbinger Down. And they asked us super-stoked dudes and… (shit – dudettes sounds stupid, but i don’t know what female dudes are. just know, you’re included too, ladies) to pay for it? … More REVEIW – Harbinger Down (2015)

Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk – BOOK

February 17, 2016

Looks like it’s about time for another book review from the ol’ Danger. Chuck Palahniuk’s “Haunted” has been on my radar for a while now. I’d been meaning to get around to it, but I put it off and forgot about it until I found it at a rad non-profit bookshop in Chicago (Open … More Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk – BOOK

Hellions (2015) – REVIEW

February 15, 2016

I’m not a huge fan of scary kids movies. (i don’t mean movies for kids that are scary. i like those) I’ve just never really found a 50 pound kid very menacing. Sure, there are a few exceptions, but overall, they’re not my thing. So, when I heard about Hellions, I wasn’t super … More Hellions (2015) – REVIEW

REVIEW – Red State (2011)

February 11, 2016

To give you some context for my Red State review, I should first talk a little about my feelings on Kevin Smith’s films. I guess that’s a short discussion, because it could be summed up with, ‘I don’t like them.’ Ok, that’s over-simplified. I admit that I thought Clerks was fairly funny when … More REVIEW – Red State (2011)

Spring (2014) – REVIEW

February 7, 2016

I knew almost zero about Spring when I went into it. I’d read tweets admonishing horror fans to check it out and be patient with it. From that bit of advice, I assumed that it would be a slow build with maybe some good violence at the climax. Which sounded fine to me. Because, honestly, I … More Spring (2014) – REVIEW

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
