I admit that I slept on Marshmallow after hearing that it’s a summer camp slasher. I’ve seen plenty of summer camp slashers. They’re not bad. Not at all. But I’m not really going to get excited about a new IP summer camp slasher that I didn’t hear/read a ton of buzz about. Even if there … More Marshmallow (2025) – REVIEW
I’m a big fan of director Jane Schoenbrun’s previous films – We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and I Saw the TV Glow. They were so weird and quietly reality bending. The films had a fresh perspective and unique aesthetic with an undercurrent of surreality. Though they are not horrific, they have a horror … More Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026) – REVIEW
Here’s another one that I knew nothing about until I saw it on Tubi. The description sounded interesting and it has both Chase Williamson and Lauren Ashley Carter in it. Sweet! I appreciate seeing those two in horror movies. Let’s get into it, shall we? Artik, a slow-talking beast of a man, and his wife … More Artik (2019) – REVIEW
Alice, Sweet Alice has been on my radar for a very long time. I’d heard some very positive things about it from some horror fans whose opinions I respect. I don’t know why it took me years and years to get around to watching it. It may be partially because this is another film that … More Alice, Sweet Alice (1976) – REVIEW
Since I liked co-directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’s Heretic, I decided to check out their earlier effort, Haunt. I’d read mixed things about it and knew it was about a haunted house, but that’s about it. Since I am watching as much horror as possible this month, I figured it’s a good time to … More Haunt (2019) – REVIEW
My 21st film of the month is Sissy, a movie that I’ve had in my Shudder queue for what seems like ages. I’m pretty sure I put it in there because I saw some positive posts about it on social media. I don’t think I saw the trailer for this one. If I did, I … More Sissy (2022) – REVIEW
Jay Baruchel is perhaps best known as the affable friend to Seth Rogen in This is the End or the voice of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon. But did you know that he directed a horror film called Random Acts of Violence? He did! And it’s my 11th (of 31) film of this … More Random Acts of Violence (2019) – REVIEW
(putting a SA trigger warning here just in case you need it) Number 3 of (hopefully) 31 for October of 2025 is Bystanders. Another movie that I knew nothing about. I found it in Tubi’s “Horror by Women” category. You’d think that category would be a wellspring, but it’s not. Several of the titles are … More Bystanders (2024) – REVIEW
When I saw the trailer for In a Violent Nature, the opening shots of a hulking brute with decayed skin, reminded me immediately of Jason Voorhees. I thought it was going to be a new F13. It’s not. But… it is certainly inspired by and/or an homage to those films. Before you get too excited … More In a Violent Nature (2024) – REVIEW
We’re almost 2 years into the US response to the coronavirus pandemic. Early on, I tweeted jokingly that we may as well get back to our blogs since, at the time, we were being asked to stay in our homes. We all had a good laugh about that (zero engagement/likes/retweets) and went back to doing … More Malignant (2021) – Review
