31+ Micro-reviews for October 2025

October 31, 2025

I did it, folks! Over 31 new-to-me horror films watched since Oct. 1st. This and 31 full reviews are just a couple of the perks of being unemployed! (laughter devolves into sobs) 44 Hell Hole (2024) – An American fracking operation in Serbia digs up a live man infected with an aggressive cephalopod-like parasite. Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

October 1, 2025

It’s October! It’s time to attempt to watch 31 new-to-me horror movies in a month. I’ve done it before and I can do it again! To kick things off, I decided to go light with a movie that HBO has tagged as a horror comedy. I really didn’t know anything about Your Monster going into … More Your Monster (2024) – REVIEW

Death of a Unicorn (2025) – REVIEW

August 4, 2025

The trailer for Death of a Unicorn made the movie seem like it was going to be goofy, gory fun, but I couldn’t help but detect a note of corniness. That wasn’t a dealbreaker though. I’m ok with corny as long as the “gory fun” part wasn’t neglected. It also hinted at some social commentary … More Death of a Unicorn (2025) – REVIEW

Cold Skin (2018) – REVIEW – Fantasia 2018

July 16, 2018

When I’m covering festivals, I always engage in bit of internal debate over whether my intros should consist of my typical rambling blather or a more terse, straight to the point version for brevity’s sake. I’ve come down on the side of brevity more often than not because I’m lazy. Sorry if you came here … More Cold Skin (2018) – REVIEW – Fantasia 2018

The Mummy (2017) – REVIEW

June 29, 2017

I saw The Mummy. Maybe that’s doesn’t seem remarkable, but it is for me. As a child of the 80s, I am not of the “monster kid” generation that feels a particular nostalgia for classic Universal horror. Nor am I of the generation who rediscovered those films when they made their way onto early consumer … More The Mummy (2017) – REVIEW

The Monster (2016) – REVIEW

February 24, 2017

I knew 2 things about The Monster going into it. 1. It featured a monster of some sort. And 2. It had a bit of positive buzz on Twitter. I was eager to see it knowing that A24 was behind it (i guess that’s 3 things) because they put out some decent stuff. When it … More The Monster (2016) – REVIEW

Things (1989) – REVIEW

February 9, 2017

“Have you seen Things?” A question that started the gears in motion that (maybe unsurprisingly) ended with me watching Things. Board game night at Wolfman‘s fell through, so he asked me the question. I hadn’t. Neither had he. But he did just buy a copy and he was free, so we put on our footie … More Things (1989) – REVIEW

SiREN (2016) – REVIEW

December 2, 2016

There’s something in the V/H/S anthology franchise for everyone to love. If exploding cultists are your thing, the V/H/S’s have you covered. Same for lovers of haunted house exorcisms and Faustian magicians. Of course, loving (or sort of liking) a couple of segments was as good as it got for many viewers. As with most … More SiREN (2016) – REVIEW

The Hallow (2015) – REVIEW

October 21, 2016

This year, I was granted access to the Fantastic Fest online “screening room”. It was pretty sweet to be recognized as the heavyweight genre film blogger that I am. One of the available films was an Irish film called, A Dark Song. The description sounded pretty good so I watched a completely different Irish movie! … More The Hallow (2015) – REVIEW

Goosebumps (2015) – REVIEW

June 3, 2016

I have a 7-year-old child. She’s amazing (full disclosure: i am biased). Super smart. Super funny. And a voracious consumer of the written word. I’ve slowly been introducing horror to her over the years with Edward Gorey, Roald Dahl (yes, his stories are often horrific), and even the first Harry Potter book with its … More Goosebumps (2015) – REVIEW

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
