Ghostwatch (1992) – REVIEW

October 9, 2025

If you read my Offseason review, you may recall that I said that I got it confused with another movie – Carnage Park – and thought that I had already seen it. Well, you’re not going to believe this, but I did it again! This time, the mix-up is probably more understandable. Rather than the … More Ghostwatch (1992) – REVIEW

Offseason (2021) – REVIEW

October 8, 2025

Mickey Keating is a very competent indie horror director. I’ve seen all but one of his features (reviewed a couple too) and enjoyed them all. He has a good eye for setting tense scenes and his characters always feel authentic even when they are losing their minds. When choosing my 12th film for this year’s … More Offseason (2021) – REVIEW

Random Acts of Violence (2019) – REVIEW

October 8, 2025

Jay Baruchel is perhaps best known as the affable friend to Seth Rogen in This is the End or the voice of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon. But did you know that he directed a horror film called Random Acts of Violence? He did! And it’s my 11th (of 31) film of this … More Random Acts of Violence (2019) – REVIEW

Starfish (2018) – REVIEW

October 7, 2025

There was some buzz about Starfish when it made the festival circuit. At the time, I made a mental note to check it out at some point. But then I didn’t. I can’t really explain why though. My usual excuse of, “it wasn’t on a streaming service that I already pay for,” doesn’t work because … More Starfish (2018) – REVIEW

Brooklyn 45 (2023) – REVIEW

October 6, 2025

Ted Geoghegan’s We Are Still Here is a great little family drama horror story. His Mohawk is an exciting period revenge story. I enjoyed both. When I first noticed Brooklyn 45 on Shudder, I didn’t even add it to my queue. I judged that idiomatic book by its cover. I thought that a séance ghost … More Brooklyn 45 (2023) – REVIEW

Bring Her Back (2025) – REVIEW

October 5, 2025

Back in my day (yes – i’m grumpy and old enough to start a story with that), you could count on an A24 movie being a decent watch. And you could also count on an A24 horror movie being a decent arthouse scare. I don’t think their track record has held up though. But as … More Bring Her Back (2025) – REVIEW

V/H/S/Halloween (2025) – REVIEW

October 4, 2025

I thought for sure that I’d reviewed one of the entries into the V/H/S franchise before. I guess not. Well, not really. I did a microreview last October that essentially boiled down to “didn’t love it”. I’ve seen all eight of the main anthologies and both of the spin-off films. The only real review I’ve … More V/H/S/Halloween (2025) – REVIEW

Heretic (2024) – REVIEW

October 4, 2025

I kind of slept on Heretic. I don’t really have an excuse. My interest just wasn’t really piqued by the trailer. I know, I know – I shouldn’t judge movies on their trailer – for good or bad. I can’t help myself! And, besides, Hugh Grant isn’t even scary. Right? Well, I’ve seen it now … More Heretic (2024) – REVIEW

Dangerous Animals (2025) – REVIEW

October 3, 2025

Sean Byrne apparently makes one good movie every decade (give or take). The Loved Ones is a brutal gut punch of a backwoods psychos story. The Devil’s Candy is a brutal gut punch of a family possession thriller. And now we have Dangerous Animals. It’s my 5th movie of an intended 31 for the 2025 … More Dangerous Animals (2025) – REVIEW

Demonic (2021) – REVIEW

October 2, 2025

When Demonic came out, I was very excited for it. I’m a fan of Blomkamp’s District 9 and his Oats Studios shorts. The trailer led me to believe that the film was going to be a mix of sci-fi and horror. That’s a cocktail that I appreciate quite a bit! It got some pretty poor … More Demonic (2021) – REVIEW

No Real Danger is a blog of my ramblings on the films that I watch/have watched/want to watch/etc. I will typically post (with irregular regularity) comma and parenthetical filled short-form entries. I plan to keep things positive, but I might grumble about something every once in a while. Horror is my “jam” but I may occasionally post about a non-horror movie. Similarly, I usually watch independent movies but not exclusively. Hell, I might even post about music. Who knows?
